CALLING ALL WOMEN!
Launching in clubs across Ireland during the 2026/27 season, Sidelines to Trylines aims to create opportunities for women within rugby communities to become active participants in the game, regardless of their sporting background, fitness level or previous rugby experience. Think ‘Mothers and Others’. We are initially gauging interest in our community to see if this is something which may be of interest. It is solely tag rugby based, requires zero previous experience and is open to women of all ages and fitness levels. If you think you would like to be involved please reach out to Kiara on 086 883 9843 or comment on posts on FB or Insta! It is something we would love to get up and running so don’t be shy!

Projects will include: - Bee monitoring - Amphibian surveys and surveys of swift nests and other breeding birds - Pollinator counts - Recording wall flora - Seed collection (native wild flower) and sowing - Tree species surveys - Involvement in a new biodiversity group and engaging with other established groups - Engaging with local stakeholders to encourage reduced mowing and other actions to encourage pollinators - Submitting observations on new planning applications (from a biodiversity POV) - Monitoring for invasive species both on land and in rivers - Submitting records of species sighted - Relocating the swift tower and placing of swift boxes on public buildings - Installing dipper nest boxes - Installing bat boxes - Infilling native hedgerows - Establishing a community orchard
This new group is in its infancy and are looking for expressions of interest at this stage. The group are also interested in hearing from schools and local community groups. Children will be welcome provided they are accompanied by a responsible adult. If this is the kind of activity you are enthusiastic about please get in touch through Facebook, Instagram or email.

Announcement from the Rathdrum Christmas Festival Committee
After 25 wonderful years organising the Rathdrum Christmas Lights, this will be our final year at the helm. It has been a privilege to help bring a bit of magic to our town each December, and we’re incredibly proud of what the community has created together. We feel it’s the right time to pass the mantle to a new generation who can bring fresh energy, new ideas, and their own vision for the future of the lights. We’re very happy to work alongside new volunteers this year, show them how everything runs, and make sure there’s a smooth handover. (More details to follow about how to get involved etc.) Thank you for all the support, kindness, and enthusiasm over the years, it has meant more than you know.
